Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.
Founded in 2007, the League of Women Voters in Pompton Lakes, NJ has successfully proposed coverage for council meetings, hosted candidate forums running for Borough Council and conducted voter registrations days.
The league is a non-partisan political organization that encourages active and informed participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
The League does not support or oppose any candidate or party. Operating on a non-profit, voluntary basis, its work is financed by dues and contributions from members and the general public. Membership is open to all citizens of voting age.
2023 NJ Primary Election
Take advantage of early voting for the Primary Election next week! Locations are now available in Passaic county (see below). For more information, visit the Early Voting Locations page on the NJ Division of Elections website https://nj.gov/state/elections/vote-early-voting.shtml

The upcoming primary election is an opportunity for registered voters t0 choose their party’s candidate to be included on the general election ballot in November.
New Jersey runs under “closed primary rules” meaning only registered voters of that party affiliation may vote. Unaffiliated voters can designate which party ballot, Democrat or Republican they wish to vote for. However, in order to change party affiliation after that, a declaration form must be submitted to the county commissioner of registration.
We’re sharing copies of the sample Democrat and Republican ballots for the June 6th Primary.
